Workplace Hearing Assessments (Audiometric Testing)

The NSW WHS Regulations require audiometric testing to be conducted at least once every two years when people are exposed to noise. These are an assessment on your employees to ensure that they have not suffered either temporary or permanent hearing loss associated with the workplace noise levels.

D) Ergonomics Assessment

How much do you value your health?

It seems a simple question yet the answer is rarely considered. Poor health and well-being in workers has a negative effect on the performance and productivity of a business. For those companies that provide medical insurance, it also incurs increasing additional costs. It is vital to implement Ergonomics in the daily life of employees, in the form of ergonomic improvements and specific exercises in the workplace, methods that alleviate pain caused by musculoskeletal or visual disorders.

Strategies to reduce sedentary behaviour by postural variation and movement

Spending too much of your day sitting at work and sitting whilst commuting and generally engaging in a sedentary lifestyle increases your risk of developing a range of health issues. A practical example is the Sit & Stand workstations, spaces in which the operator can decide how much time of his day is dedicated to working sitting down and how much standing at their desk. These workstations can reduce sitting time by between 66 – 143 minutes each day, increasing the level of activity that translates into the positive outcomes of perceived comfort, energy, health, productivity, happiness, stress and general mood.

Injury prevention strategies

Prevention should be the primary focus of all Health & Safety programs. Job design, work practices, rest breaks, health and fitness all relate to injury prevention.
